Why would I need a lawyer?
If you’ve been injured as a result of someone else’s negligence, you may have doctor’s fees, physical therapy treatments, drug costs or adjustments to your lifestyle to accommodate your injuries. It’s natural to want to be compensated for lost wages, medical expenses or diminished quality of life.
Insurance companies don’t always provide accident victims with a fair settlement because they are focused on minimizing business expenses. To ensure that you receive fair compensation for your injury, hire an experienced personal injury trial attorney who can negotiate a fair settlement or present your case before a Superior court.
Why should I hire you? What makes you different from other lawyers?
The biggest difference is I answer my own phones, making me available to you throughout your case. I’ve also been a practicing attorney for more than 39 years and I focus on vehicular personal injury cases (cars, motorcycles, trucks). I choose to focus on one area so I can be thoroughly prepared for those specific cases. I’m also a successful trial attorney, so if I can’t get you a fair settlement during negotiations, I’m confident that I can competently argue your case in front of Arizona Superior Courts.
How do I pay you?
Michael J. Lyding Law firm accepts cases on a contingency basis, which means we will take a percentage of your settlement or judgement. If you don’t collect, neither do we.
How do I get the best attorney?
Experience is key. My 39 years as a personal injury attorney tells you that I’ve been around for a long time and have been successful at getting rewards for my clients. Remember I don’t get paid unless I can get a judgement or settlement for you.
When I meet with any attorney, what should I ask?
I recommend the following questions:
- Do you specialize in a particular area of law?
- Have you handled cases like mine? How many? What were the outcomes?
- Will you be the only attorney working on my case? If not, who else will work on my case?
- If I don’t like a settlement offer, can you take my case to court?
- Will you take my case on a contingency basis?
- How long do you think it will take to resolve my case?
- What can I do to help you be successful on my behalf?
- Will you keep me informed of my case’s progress?
- What’s the best way for me to contact you?
- If I have to leave a message, how long will it take for you to call me back?
When you come to see me, all of these questions are welcome and I’ll strive to give you the most thorough understanding of the legal process and your case.
What about the attorneys who advertise on television?
When you call a law firm with an 800#, it’s probably a very large firm. More than likely, you won’t get to choose your attorney, one will be assigned to you. And most of these attorneys are responsible for a very large number of clients, so they are not as available to talk with you. You won’t get to voice your concerns or ask questions of the attorney who will be representing your case.
Most of the work on your claim will be handled by paralegals and secretaries. It is often difficult to talk directly to your assigned attorney.
At Michael J. Lyding Law firm, I answer my own phones because I want you to be able to reach me. I will answer all of your questions and keep you up-to-date on how your case is going.
Do you handle cases other than vehicular personal injury?
Not often. My clients are usually injured by a vehicle—an automobile, motorcycle or truck.
By focusing only on these type of personal injury cases, I know the law inside and out. As my client, this is an advantage because I am experienced and knowledgeable enough to know the strategies that will get you the best settlement possible.
